Cambatta is a rapper from New Haven, Connecticut, who adopted the alias at fifteen while writing rhymes as an escape from his surroundings — a city that holds Yale University and its Skull and Bones society less than five minutes from the blocks he grew up on. That collision of extreme privilege and engineered neglect became the through-line of his writing. After graduating high school he left New Haven for Florida at eighteen and, with no budget, self-released his debut *Visionary*, followed by the *Visionary 2* mixtape. A subsequent spiritual turn produced the *Smoke & Mirrors* mixtape trilogy — *The Porch* in January 2013, then *The Womb* and *The Crack Baby* in 2015 — psychedelically-informed projects that recontextualized his upbringing and drew notice from XXL, The Source, Complex, HipHopDX and 2DOPEBOYZ. He relocated to New York, where the city's conscious community pushed his work further into Kemetic science and esoterica. In 2017 he began a long partnership with producer Black Magik on *The Holy Ghost* EP, extended through *Holy Ghost 2* (2019) and *Holy Ghost 3*. Signed to Mello Music Group, he released his long-gestating magnum opus *LSD: Lunar Solar Duality* in 2020, preceded by the Apollo Brown–produced single "Nightmare," and followed it in 2021 with *Manifest Destiny* alongside battle-rap institution Loaded Lux. He remains active, releasing singles and hosting a weekly livestream, the Spontaneous CAMbustion GODCAST.
